hey all. something weird has been happening. when i go to start my car after maybe a day or two, my car kinda like coughs and shakes and chugs before cranking on. it will like start but sometimes in the middle of starting, it wont start. i have to turn the keys again and then it wil start up fine. does anyone know whats causing this big cough hiccup thing? i talked to my parents and they said it could either be the battery or the starter, but the battery is pretty new, i only got it in october so im thinkin it could be the starter...does anyone else have any input as to whats going on? help is apppreciated.

That sounds like a fuel or spark related issue, not a battery or starter problem.

So are you saying in the middle of cranking, it stops cranking. Then you crank it again and it starts? You need to be a little bit more descriptive w/ your explanation!!!

well i mean itll stop if i let go at a normal turn of starting my car. but in order for it to start up i have to turn the key and hold it for a bit longer while its like coughing and shaking the whole time. get it?

sounds like a spark problem check your ignition system from the cheapest components to the most expensive and complex see which one is malfunctioning,it could be the spark plugs the spark plug wires or the coil.
