Default What Next?

I have a 99 Mustang GT Convertible with:

3.73 gears
strut tower bar
subframe connectors
steeda tri-axe shifter
flowmasters
steeda underdrive pulleys
fender well coldair

I'm trying to decide between heads or headers?

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know and what kind of bang for the buck I can expect.

Do the rest of your exhuast first, much cheaper and if you're gonna do more in the future it will keep helping you.

I really want to do long tube headers, but on a 4.6 isn't that a little pricy in terms of labor in modification? Or does anyone know of a brand of long tubes that install with ease...or as easy as possible. I talked to some guys who installed long tubes and they said it would have been easier to pull the engine to install them.

Is this true?

Well, you shouldn't "BEND" your headers around the steering column, it would mess up the whole dynamics and flow of the headers. However, the buddy of mine that installed his had to take out the steering column and run the shaft through the headers.

So, please let me know what you find out. As I understand it all brands of headers install a little differently, what kind did you get? As long as there shorties you won't have anything to worry about, but long tubes you better have some money saved up for labor...

I would go with the shorty headers and get equal length ones. They install easy enough for the average guy who don't mind getting his hands dirty and busting a knuckle or two while he's at it. it's like MelloYellow says, "if you don't turn the wrenches, it ain't yours!"

That's right, I need to pull mine off and clean them up. They were on there when I got the car and someone had done a real crappy paint job on them, now they're just brown. I'd like to blast them and then get some hi temp heat. Maybe even powdercoat them. I almost got a powdercoat setup back when my dad and I had started restoring an old triumph probably four or five years ago. Would be nice to be able to just blast parts and make em all nice and shiny without paying out the *** for chromed or anodized parts.
