I have a problem with a particular fuse in my car. It's #1 which deals with the blinkers and the air bag light.

I changed the fuse 5 months ago when I first got the car and replaced the multifunction switch as well. Yesterday when driving home from work, the blinkers died. This morning I changed the fuse again. It says in the book to use a 15 amp fuse which I did. Then the next time I turned over the ignition, no blinkers and the air bag light returned. What is going on? Can the new fuses be bad right out of the packaging or is there something else I should be checking? My dad is stumped.

I would see what else is on the circuit. Usually there are multiple things.
