Default 0 oil pressure, please help!!!

i know i posted similar not too long ago but i need help really bad.

i brought my car to the shop because i was driving and suddenly my oil press guage droped to 0 within 10 seconds. they told me it was the oil pump.

now they said they changed the pump and no pressure still. they changed it again to be sure and still nothing, then took off the oil filter and said that it shoots out. he said the oil is not getting to the top of the motor and thats why there is 0 pressure still.

said my motor needs a rebuild??? WTF!!! the motor has less than 10k miles on it. someone else ever have this problem?? oh and he said he checked the gear under the distributor and all is fine there.

1. Did they check the sending unit?

2. Did they pull the vave covers and and see if there was oil coming from the push rods?

I did but that was because the oil pump driveshaft snapped. I was far from home and from a shop but I did happen to have 2 extra qts. in the car, I put those in and the splash effect from the crank goin through it to get me home. But most definitly have check the sending unit, and pull the valve covers.

I question that given shops skill if you are telling the story correctly.... That being said; odds are you do need to tear the motor down. It could be many things.....

it shouldnt be the sending unit because the top end started ticking like crazy after i turned the car off then on again. so there really isnt any oil getting to the top

Killswitch:
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it could possibly be a spun cam shaft bearing. I had the same problem in a 351M.

These type of "generalized" statements don't help us help you. Pull the oil fill cap and see if the rockers have oil flowing over them. Cut the oil filter open and look for debris. Change the oil pressure sender..they are notoriously junk...or get a good mechanical gauge. What kind of cam is in it?

no i said there is no oil getting to the top. i cranked the motor while my friend looked into the valve covers. no oil sputtered. plus the mechanic said the same thing. i think im going to go to this mustang specialty shop tomorro and see how much he wants to rebuild my motor with a 331 stroker kit. If your gonna rebuild, REBUILD . ill probably have to find a stock block since mines bored 30 over.
