mounting HID ballast
I have an HID conversion kit on the way and today I decided lets look at where its going....I have a 2001 mustang v6, and I was looking in the engine compartment and I cant find a place to mount the bracket to hold the balast. I might have found a place. Its behind the bumper on the inside of the engine compartment(underneith that piece of plastic that they use to put the information stickers about the type of coolant and stuff to use...) if u remove that piece of plastic there is this vertical piece made of plastic(looking strait down u can see the inside of the bumper and have acces to the back of the grill)...Im not worried about it warping or anything cause the balast does not weigh too much and the bracket is held by 2 nuts and bolts, i guess my real question is does anybody know how hot the ballasts ussually get? If it mount it there will it melt the plastic? Has anyone else installed or know anyone who has installed HID conversion kits on their ride? where did u mount the ballast? any help is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance
i mounted my ballasts right below the left and right bumper supports(the round tubes that connect to the bumper going into the front end)
I riveted them and also zip tired em.....been that way for awhile now.....no issues.....
i had pics but cant find em

thanx ill have to take a look into that, what are the supports made out of? Is it easy to drill a hole in it to put the bolt and nut on for the bracket? Did you get at it from under the car? Or can you do it from above? thanx alot in advance for the help
its below the supports themselves...its actually part of the front frame itself its just below where the supports go into the front frame. Its all metal up there. I riveted mine in so noway a bolt/nut could come loose and i zip tied it as well incase the rivet failed it would still be connected to the frame...
I took the front bumper off to do mine.. Its easy and takes about 5-10 minutes to remove bumper...

ok cool thanx alot, ill look at it tommorow and try to figure it out...my whole problem is i dont have a riveting machine or anything like that just a drill and the nuts and bolts that r gonna come with the kit. But I will take a look at this location anyway and see if there is anything i can do there. Thanx again
