hanging idle with a/c on
hey everyone im new to this site and i have a quick question. When my ac is on in my 99 cobra the idle hangs at around 1500-1800 rpms for a few seconds before returning back to normal when the clutch is pushed in coming to a stop light or any time i stop. Does anyone know a cure for this. I have already tried cleaning the iac, and i have an iac restrictor in it now and it does the same thing. I also checked the voltage to the tps and it is a .989 volts

In order to run the compressor, considering the humidity in the car, etc., the A/C system requires a lot from your engine. Elevated RPMs are all part of the way things work. If you want to lower them you could adjust your throttle-body accelerator cable, or even mess with the computer. If you do that, you may end up damaging your A/C system permanently.
I suggest you do nothing. Your car's running fine. :-)
