Default Rebuilt Differential, New Noise

U-joints been going back for a while with the "clunk" after releasing brake before hitting the gas. Had the u-joints replaced and the differential rebuilt since the ring and pinion gear had become damaged. Got the car out of the shop this week, and the clunk is gone. Now, however, I'm hearing a noise that's kind of hissing (actually sounds like radio static). No noise unless the car is moving, so it appears it's coming from the rear end/driveshaft. Is this noise normal? I've heard someone say that the bearings need to be "honed" for a bit before the noise will go away.

Since this is a new noise that was not present before having the rear end worked on, I'm concerned something isn't right with the rebuild.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JB
