Default Need Help, Freak Breakdown

i have no oil pressure. the psi was fine till one day driving on the parkway it suddenly plumetted to 0psi. then a valve tap began. brought it to a shop and they told me the oil pump is bad. put in high volume pump and still nothing. checked the shaft under the distributor and it was fine.

what is the problem?? they said they cranked the car with the oil filter off and it squirted out alot so its obviously getting oil to that point.
they said i will probably need a rebuid but my motor is a fresh rebuild already with less than 10k miles on it and wasnt beaten on till 3k. just a note, they also said there was no sludge or any build up on the pump screen, i change my oil religously.

PLEASE HELP!

Ever think that the oil pressure sending unit might be bad? That would be the first thing Id replace. Make sure the wire going to it is in good shape.

Id say pull a valve cover, start her up and see if oil sprays all over the damn place. Also, try going to a thicker oil, as in 10w40. If the tick goes away then you probably wore the hell outta somethin. Also, Do you have adjustable roller rockers? If so it might just need to be adjusted up.

PS: Other than that it sounds like an oil passage is plugged up, which would constitute a complete motor teardown and cleaning.
