RE: DUE TO EXPENSIVE FUEL COSTS
If you're complaining about fuel prices and having to use the reccomended octane to prevent pinging, then I strongly suggest you step back and be glad you pay what you do compared to say, Europe.
Or, you buy a cheap econobox to get to work.

Dude, what are you talking about? Jeep is just trying to put things in perspective, like when someone's complaining about paying an extra 10 cents a gallon to remember that some places in europe pay easily twice what we pay. If you drive a car like we do you may have to pay a little extra for gas to have it run well.

Correct, the original question was about pings, but when you try to feed an engine that requires a certain octane and slow flame speed octane BELOW what it needs, it will ping.
I do not own nor is any part of my family involved in the oil industry.
People these days.....you drive a small block V8, bitch about some of the cheapest gas prices in the world, then turn around and get a $5 small coffee of over-burnt Folgers at Starbucks and pay a buck for 20 oz of water.

That is my piont exactly!!!when people will pay exorbitant prices for the most needless trinkets then the "powers that be "will charge whatever the market will bear.If you don't buy at their inflated price the cost will go down!!!

RE: DUE TO EXPENSIVE FUEL COSTS
Well the point I am getting at is whats the point of oil and goverments jacking reg 87 octane if the fuel its self is not being improved, My conclusion Question is has anyone notice since the high increase of fuel costs the quality of reg fuel is getting worse, We pay more in gas prices up here in Canada, And we drill most of oil & gas %25 Canadian fuel gets sent to the US, The gas in the US is diff then Canadian, US has better additives,
