Should I change weight?

Should I change weight?
Hey everyone,
I am currently running Royal Purple 5-20 in my car. I am wondering if I should change to 10-30 before the car is use the weight of the 5-20. I plan on making power and I am concerned with the extra heat letting the oil get to thin.
The car will have 20,000 by the time I need to change it again, and would like to start it on 10-30 if that would be better then the 5-20. I don't care about mileage, but about keeping the motor safe as possible.

change to 5-30 if you're concerned about extra protection. 10-30 is a bit too thick when you turn the car on in the morning. But if royal purple doesn't make 5-30 then 10-30 would work.

Actually 5-20 is used in almost all new ford cars. The oil is thinner and helps Ford meet CAFE requirements for fuel economy. For a while 5-20 wasn't avalible in a synthetic, 5-30 was.
I am just concerened with the protection, as the motor starts to create more heat. All be it, it won't be for a couple of years, but bad things happen when you change weights in a car that is used to something else, So I want to start with a weight that I should be using when it finally does make the numbers I want.

well actually ford does not recomend using anything but 5w20 in cars specified with it after 2001,, the only car/suv that doesn't use it is the 4.0 in the explorer(ohv) not sohc, but anyway if you put in thicker oil it will not get into all of the places that the 5w20 will because after 01 for started building their engines with tighter specs so thus the new oil. we have even looked here at work and the spec books show tighter clearences for 5w20 cars.
so stick with the 5w20
so stick with the 5w20
