Default 351m/400

i just bought a 351m/400 motor and C6 trans (that i dont know if it works) that i got for dirt cheap. I've never heard of of ford 400 but the factory stamp says the enigine family is a 351m/400 and the CID is 400. Is this a good engine to muscle up and put into an '89 notch? If so, what would be a good cam, carb, intake, and comp setting? Oh and I think it came out of a '76 or a '79 f.150 or 2.50.

I have one in my '79 F-250 4x4. They have torque...they lack in the HP department though...They were mainly a big car / truck engine. The main difference between the 351M and the 400 is the crank and pistons. They're great motors though, from my experience..may be a little heavy for a smaller car though.

they are HEAVY and will require a lot of work, it will not be street legal.

With that being said, they have a ton of potential., 351C 2V heads bolt right up, Edelbrock has a 4 barrell intake, and a 351C cam will fit. The M is wider than a C and has better oiling
