Default manual or automatic?

yeah i no its a dumb noob question. but which is better in a mustang manual or auto? why do peaple like manual so much better?

Personal preference. I like Manuals because I like to have that control over my car. Autos are just so...minivan-ish. Unless you get a Mercedes.

yeah more control i like that but it wont increase your performance right? like when your launching off for a drag race?

Manuals are better for Track racing, and street racing. Just so you can get down into your powerband.
Auto's can be built up better than a manual for drags tho.

Just going by what I heard, and what makes sense to me

it all depends, lot of variables. you can have plenty of control with a automatic. and at the track, automatics are probably more consistant. with a manual you do have more choice of what rpm range to launch from, but you can launch just as hard with a auto as a manual.

I prefer the automatic myself, no ongoing clutch maintenance to mess with and it's a whole lot easier to hold it at a stop light when on a hill!

no doubt roundman! some of those clutches will where you out! had a king cobra and it was way to heavy

you should see the size of some of the NHRA pro stock drivers' left legs! they are just huge from holding down the clutch on those bad boys they run. LOL
another good reason for using an auto tranny, LOL

yeah i could c how your times could be more consistant if your not used to a manual. the gt that i took for a test run yesterday was a auto and it felt great!!!!! thanks guys
