manual or automatic?
I'm all for auto. I'll probably take my car on the track... ummm.....let me think.... never.
I might punch it at a stop light or on the on-ramp to a freeway, but that's the most my car will really ever see. All the arguments about racing may be valid but they don't apply to me. Do they apply to you? Be realistic. My car is my daily driver and I don't need to strain my left knee while in traffic. I like having a free hand to hold a drink. Or my spousal unit's hand. I can still feel the thrill of the V-8 in my GT with an auto. I can still hear my car roar. I can still feel my neck straining to hold my head from snapping back. I can still enjoy driving my car with an auto... a lot!

I'm a standard guy. Always have been, and always will be.
I won't argue that at the drag-strip, an auto is more consistent, but if someone beats you bracket racing with a standard, what's your excuse? [sm=smiley35.gif]
My big reason is I've had auto's in the past, and they've all cost me money to fix. I've only had 1 standard tranny crap on me (25 years of driving), and that was my own dumb fault (lack of oil). And believe it or not, have only had to change 1 clutch in all those years (in a Pinto that I was oval racing).
I drove an Aerostar minivan to over 188,000 miles with no problems, and traded it in with the original clutch still in it. I now have 1 99 F150 with 127,000 on it, and no problems.
And I always figured a standard tranny is easier AND cheaper to fix than an auto.
These are just my opinions, and I'm sure others have had great luck with autos. I haven't, therefore, I don't want them. In fact, my niece has a car down back because of the tranny. Yep, it's an auto [:'(]
