Default Help me please

Hello all,

I have a 2003 gt 5 speed. I think i blew the clutch up. It locked up on me and wouldn't go into gear while i was at a stop light. i forced it into gear and all of a sudden i heard something that sounded like a can full of marbles. I then lost all pressure on my clutch. I made it home in 2nd but that was it. Does this sound like my clutch or was it my tranny. Sorry this was my first 5 speed. Thanks for all the help in advance.

If the clutch linkage is fine then ya, i'd say it sounds like the clutch
is gone.

2nd gear was the only one that worked? or the only one you tried? The fact that you were able to get it into gear makes me think your clutch is still doing something. There could be a problem in the clutch linkage, or the tranny could have lost a shaft.

You didn't mention how many miles you have on your car.

I'm sorry about that. it has 62,580 miles on it. The day it happened i wasn't able to shift into any gear. I forced it into 2nd and thats when i heard the can of marbles. when i got home i tried to put it into other gears but nothing happened.

I went out there this morning before pt and started it. I can move the shifter into each gear, but it doesn't move.

Sounds like the tranny has internal damage.[:@]

If you know how to remove and install a transmission, you can pick one up reasonable from several sources. Now would also be a good time to replace the cluch.

+1
its not too difficult to replace it but just make sure you have all the proper tools or you'll be frustrated as all hell[sm=headbang.gif]

That "can of marbles" sounds like the bearing on the input shaft of the tranny. As long as there's no internal damage, you could replace it fairly inexpensively. Like they said, replace your clutch if it is still stock.
