Default modern heating/ac in classic mustang

I have a 69 mustang beater that the heat runs all the time ac is just a dream dancing in the mist. I am curious to find someone who can tell me if i can take modern (80's and up) heating and ac parts and put into my daily beater so that i can bare it a little better. I'm a working joe so dropping more than a couple hundred dollars on any project would mean having my wife kill me. I know that everyone says to use the FAQ at the top of the page, but I tried and got nothing, so some remedial help in using the searches would be awsome as well. Any and all help in the matter is greatly appreciated.

Not the job for a do it yourselfer.I think all new parts would have to be orderred ,a tremendous expense.Don't cosider used parts since there is a good chance they would introduce contaminants into your system,To buy each piece separately would cost more than the price of a HVAC OEM in the car at time if purchase; You need both high and low pressure hoses,a condenser,an Evaporator ,orfice tube, compressor, filter,Pag oil,and 134A.I used to be a HVAC tech,in Autobody.I repaired about 3 systems a day(due to front end collissions).
See if there are some kits available.Price those out .Do not tell your wife, since some uninstalled kits cost over a few grand.Do not buy anything used.It will cost you more.later.I also should suggest you simply get an estimate on how much having your car retrofitted by a Pro.

If I get it done by a pro then that takes all of the fun out of it. The kits are awsome, but I was wandering if there was anyway to take a donor car and throw all of the components on into it. The compressor would be the part that I'd buy new, but the heater box, ect would it work out of a newer car?
