Default Seatbelt slack

On my 02 V6, the drivers side seatbelt doesnt retract all the way back like it used to. Recently, when I turn the car off and take my seatbelt off, it just hangs there. It used to just retract right back and get out of the way. I try pushing it down into the slot where it goes but that doesnt work too well. I'm tired of slamming the car door on the extra slack hangin out. Has this happened to anyone else? What about a fix? Thanks for the help.

Edit: The belt is not tangled as far as I can see. As far as inside the slot goes, behind the panel, I have no clue since I cant see that.

Is the retractor behind the panel? I'm not sure what it looks like but I bet I'll be able to know what it is if I look. I might go out there in a few hours and mess around with it. I'll let you all know what I find out.
