Default Is the car pulling timing?

K heres the scoop.

With gas prices ever increasing these days, I have though about trying 89 in my car. I have been running 91 to 93 depending on whether I go to the Mobil station or the Sunoco station. I figured it was a good a time as any to try it.

Well I don't hear any pinging or detonation, but then again it is tough to hear with my exhaust anyway. But I noticed something strange today on the way home.

When I go into a corner somewhat hard and get on the throttle hard, the car seems to lose power for a couple of seconds about midway into the REV range, kinda like it is bogging, never seemed to have this problem before (or just didn't notice it). Come to thing of it it seems like it is doing it off the line to for a split second.

My question is could the car be pulling timing? The car is not hooking up because it is not launching forward or lurching forward. It is almost like I tapped the brakes in mid corner. In a straight line the car seems fine and I can mat it and it doesn't bog.

The only mod i have is a catted x-pipe, magnapac system, a green filter and the silencer removed.

it's either a bad batch of gas, your traction control is on and kicking in, or psychological. hate to say it but sometimes we imagine things when the circumstance is right.

from your mods you don't even need 89, this has been argued to all hell in this and every other forum on earth, your car is very lightly modded, 87 is all you need.

by the way, whats a green filter?

Well I know it is not the traction control because that is almost always off. never had a bad tank of gas from this gas station. I only go to three different stations. And I always use the same pump when I go.

It might be because I am looking for the car to run different with the lower gas but I would think I would notice this with the higher octane. I drive the same way to and from work everyday. Hammering it into this corner is very common. Just this time it seemed to bog midway.

Green filter is a filter company out of Europe that use to be a sister company to K-N. The filters are better than a K-N, I know I have tried them both and I use to sell both (and many others). The green filter flows almost twice the air a K-N flows. Just a little pricy and they don't make intake kits for american cars yet. Usually 10buck more than a drop in K-N so about 80 bucks for one.

Keep paying attention to it and see if you keep noticing it.

Did it on one corner this morning, but on the next one it was fine, little step out and no bogging.

I am really starting to get confused[&:]

Hey silver dude, Ive been using 87 reg fuel like 6 months ago, I never pinged too bad, Ive noticed myself since the high prices and demands for reg fuel the quality is ****ty, Ive talked to tons of mechanic's too they say the same thing, fuel additives or supreme fuels are the only way to go for restore power or lose pings. Ive gone everything to try and stop ping from happening, I turned the time back a few degrees no good, I just add octane boosters or supreme fuels, With 87 reg fuels now I am pinging big time , I lose power too. Good Luck!
