Default X pipe questions

I'm new to the forums and have been reading all the stuff posted about x-pipes. I plan on getting an x-pipe soon, but I don't know whether to get Bassani, BBK, or what. I have a 94 GT with BBK equal shorty headers and flowmaster mufflers right now. Any opinions on brand or whether or not I should get the x-pipe with or without cats?

Well welcome to the forums and I hope you get the info you need.

I will tell you there a lot of different opinions on here that will tell you this and that. First, my opinion is Bassani because it sounds like an Indy car and I love the way it sounds. Mine is an off road (without cats) and the X pipe with longtube headers gave me a lot of extra power. Depending on where you live I would say go without cats or get some high flow cats. Just keep asking questions and you can bet the majority of the voice will lead you in the right direction.

Yeah, I want to go with an off road Bassani, just a little worried about taking it to college next fall. I want that aggressive tone, but I need to keep it down at college cuz cops are asses there. Will keeping in a higher gear limit the noise a tad, or is it just all-around loud?

At an idle it is barely noticable and if you do keep in the low rpms then you really cant tell but it still sounds really good. But when you decide to get on it you better believe people will know you're there! Its an all around good pipe.

With the flowmasters you should be fine, if you stay off it it won't be that loud.

BTW I have the BBK Shorty (for the longtubes) X, and I am extremely happy with its sound and performance.

Yeah, I've heard pro's and con's on X-pipes w/cats & O/R. I may be convinced to go with O/R cuz I originally just wanted to keep it legal. Who knows, I probably won't make up my mind 'til I hit "Check Out", haha.

What about the Check Engine light coming on cuz of the O2 censor (if I got the O/R)?
