i was wondering if it makes a difference if you shift thru the gears with an aode if you get goin any faster and if it shifts better.. or just let it in "drive"?

you cant shift faster then the computer can, expesially with a good tune or shift kit

i've got a shiftkit and a tuner, and i have slips to prove that my car shifts much faster manually

The correct answer is "all of the above"

A stock stang will probably shift itself (stick in D & enjoy the ride) just as quick as you could shift it manually.

But an auto modded with a shiftkit/tuner will probably be more responsive to you shifting it yourself. In fact, you might want to get a ratchet shifter for such a combo if you race a lot.

I have an auto with 3.73 gears and shift kit and I no first hand that shifting my 95 5.0 is quicker than leaving it in drive. When I manually shift it, I can scratch 2nd, leave it in drive and it doesnt. At the track- I was 4 tenths quicker or so shifting manually, but I wouldnt base it on that.
