Default starter/idle question

just out of curiosity... can a starter that gets unneeded heat cause an idling problem? for example, my starter needs a heat shield b/c my headers r causing too much heat to the starter, when my car starts up the idle is perfect, after a while tho the car begins to idle to the point of stalling, i no it could be a number of problems, but has any1 ever heard of an idle problem due to an overheated starter? thanks

Default RE: starter/idle question

I have no idea what car you have but no the starter has nothing to do with the idle. I'm thinking it has something to do with the car switching from open to closed loop...sounds like a sensor might be bad because in open-loop(cold motor) the motor is running off of fixed fuel/air trims and is bypassing sensors like the O2's. Could be a front O2 or possibly the maf if your car has one...
