hi, this is my 1st post so i hope im in the right area.
i was looking at an msn car site and looed up diffrent years on mustangs and noticed this pattern:
88-92 225hp
93 205hp
94-97 215hp
98 225hp 4.6

i own an 88 gt and was wondering if anyone knew why ford had a decline in HP over the years after 92 till 99 where its at like 260hp? there all 5.0's! [sm=smiley5.gif]

also was wondering is there any diffrence between a GT and a cobra besides the supercharger?

basicly i a little bit about cars like tune-up, oil changes, fuel pumps, starters, alt batt, ect... but id like to get into learning about inexpensive mods and instalations, i hope this is the right board to learn these.

i love my mustang, its got 145k but runs smooth and strong and i talked the guy down to $1700 from $2k. the only mod it has is a mo flo muffler, i know thats not the right name but its something like that. if anyone knows what im talking about does that add any HP either?

Hey Stanger.....

Well the difference between the GT's and Cobras are they have diff upper and lower intakes, the cobras do not come w/ superchargers stock....

And you will get great info on this site about basic tune up on your car also.... If you have questions look in the 5.0 forum under General Tech and look back through the pages and you will find tons of info.... And if there is something you need to know and cannot find info about it post a thread and all of us here will be more than helpful

Welcome to the forums. You came to a good place to learn, the poeple here have a lot of knowledge about Mustangs and other cars too. Sounds like you got a real killer deal on your Stang too. I gave $1600 just for a body. Its a 93 and has lots of mods though. I bought it just like you see it in my sig. Post some pics when you get a chance.

 

the older stangs had basically the same engines but the new cobras have a DOHC supercharged and the GT's have a SHOC...all the V8 stangs have a 4.6

 

I believe that up to 95 they had the 5.0, then in 96 they had the DOHC 4.6.

You didnt get hurt at all on that deal!! I wish I could find a complete 5.0 that clean for a price like that. Id be in heaven!

 

yeah, we got extermely lucky, we were on our way to my wifes grandmothers house when we pasted it parked in front of 1 of those boom box stores, i went in and asked about the mustang and they said $2k obo. then like everyone buying a system for there cars jumped all over it, but i held my stance as the 1 who asked 1st. then we took it for a test drive and i told the guy i could give him $1700 the very next day, and the rest is history

a while back i owned a 92 t-bird with the 5.0HO and i figured they were the same as the mustangs. wow was i wrong, this mustang killz. what a diffrence. im truely in love, now i just gotta name her [sm=smiley2.gif]
