Default question about reverse

i have a 94 dodge caravan (i kno lame) and it has an auto transmission and it shifts fine into drive and park and everyone but reverse. whenever i put it in reverse it locks in but dosent lock in it sits for awhile then makes a horrible noise and jumps into reverse. anything would help.

The cable could need to be adjusted.This cable is underneath the battery and the battery,battery tray,and airbox has to come out.To adjust the cable you place the shift lever in "park".Loosen the clamp and pull the cable tight.Now tighten the clamp.

BTW.Mrs.Chopper has a Dodge Caravan that I drive to keep from running my Mustang into the ground,and no it's NOT lame!!!

could be the shift linkage needs adjustment......something like chopper was saying.

well i found out it has another problem. a broken motor mount thats also somewhat holding up the tranny. AND on top of that all the bolts holding the tranny to the engine but 2 are missing! its really sagging...
