i have a 87 mustang and it has a 351winsor with a comp cam,280. .510....and its got a offinhouser intake a 650vacume secondary carb,c4v trans with 3300-3500 stall with shift kit i was running 8:20s with 5speed then i put this c4 in and went to 8:46 fast as i could get it in a 8th i ran it again last week and went to a 8:76 and that is as fast as i could get it want to know what could be wrong why want it get back to the 8:40s if you have advice i would lisen....lol oh ya i dont have any gears it has 308s...and what could i do to it to mack it run in the 7s that is cheep.....and got 302 headers......lol thanks

what kind of heads? you have 302 headers on it? how did you do that, might want to go with some full lengths if they arent already and that gear is killing you too. 3.73 does good and 4.10 would also

With same setup each run, the time differences could be weather.....

Yeah the gear swap would help you alot more.... 3.08's are for the dogs

The headers def need to be changed out, not sure how you managed the 302 headers either, you need to get that 351 breathin.

As for cuttin off a second that usually doesn't come so "cheap" the gears will help, also losing weight will too, that c4 weighs more than your T5 did.... look into some underdrives...

i just bolted on the 302 headers and i have stock heads, ya i am going to put 373s in the rear and going to see what it will run then.ya i need some more headers i just dont have the money right now i just put this car together. what yall think if i put on some good headers and some gears, what you think it will run.....

what size (diamater) is your converter? and does it actually stall at that or is it just rated for 3500. not sure what you will run, but with my 86 and a .030 over 351 and c4, i hit 7.95 in the 8th. i have 3.73's, 4500 9" stall, big valve cast heads, 9.5 to 1 pistons, performer rpm cam, mac 1 3/4 long tubes and a victor jr. intake. thought that might help you estimate a little, i also have upper and lower control arms and subframes that help a lot.

my stall is a 10inch and it stalls to 3400 and i found out why i was running slower the last time i ran my rear was pulling one wheel the clutches are bad

mine has started to do the same thing, need clutches and 4.10's, but it didnt seem to effect my time that much?!

look at your 60 foot times what is the differece?...what was the first gear on the other trans?..to lose a 1/2 sec with a trans change is odd unless it's in the trans and your mismatch your rpm range with the cam and things..gears will yield maybe 2-3 tenths at best in a 1/8 a cam change with a smaller C/L will help it rev faster as well as a bigger maf...are you running opened headers at the track?..do so ...also add a few psi to the front tires and put the battery over the tire in the trunk..put a new clutch pak in the rear like 45 buck.take the best clutch shim from the old set and put it with the new set this will tighten up the pak even more and will help on your 60 ft time...didn't say if you use a drag radial or not..a set of et streets will help a ton
