Default TrakLok and axle quality

Does anyone have an idea of how strong the traclok unit and stock 28 spline 5 lug axles in an sn95 are? I'm about to put a 3.73 in it and was wondering if they're suited for what this car will become. the most i plan to ever have is a 331 stroker.

If that 331 stroker is N/A (no nitrous either), the 28 spline axles should hold up unless you drop the clutch with slicks... 31 spline would be a good investment... Go till the 28's bend.

Depending on how many miles you've got on the clutch packs in the rear, that may need rebuilding... if it's got any weaknesses, launching hard on it will bring those out

IMO if you ever plan on running DRs or slicks definitely get 31 spline diff/axles.

well i'll be the one to disagree.

keep it on cheaters w/ launch under 4000 and you won't break it. full slicks w/ 5k launch is what breaks axles

i launch on nitrous (80 shot) and 4.10's and (crossing fingers) never broke an axle yet.
my old car squirting out of the hole (75 shot) 4.10's went 12.50's on et streets and never broke one

my buddy running 11.80's launching on 125 shot and 4.10's never broke til he launched on full slicks...the et streets still had him going 11.90's, but the extra stick from the et drags broke one , then the other the next weekend.

no stress from the transbrake, it's all about the hook IMO

cheaters will bust loose b4 you reach the point of a twisted shaft. i'm not saying it would never happen....but a little unlikely if done right.
