Default 3.73 for a 289?

Would 3.73 be the right choice for a '68 289? How much difference would it make? on performance and on gas milage?

What height are the tires you are running? I run 25" tires on my 69 with 3.89's. My 390 never sees more than 5000 rpm and makes a bunch of torque. For that reason, I'm going down to 3.25's.
