it's much more expensive if you're a girl nomo. ask any insurance agent. girls are statistically worse drivers therefore a bigger risk to the insurance company. as a girl i guarantee you it's worse for us

For drivers under 25 girls are considerably cheaper than guys for insurance on anything, especially cars. Sorry to correct you ariel, but nomo is right. Now maybe when your 25+ that may change, Im not sure.

Wow I wish this was true hehe. Insurance for girls is about 100,000 times cheaper. Your right though, they are worse drivers

BTW if you can find a place where female drivers are more expensive, let me know, I want to buy from em and get cheaper rates.

Insurance for a girl is MUCH cheaper...
Back when I was looking for a stang I did an insurance quote for a 2001 GT
Yearly Inusurance would total out to be around $6,000!!!
I did the same quote and just said I was a female and it was only $3,000

Very ****ing unfair if you ask me

Btw im 18 too

Oh and that was with full coverage too with $1000 deductables
since I was financing the car

I hate to play devils advocate but here I go.... Your a 18 year old without a lot of driving experience your father shouldn't get you either of them.
Mustang V8s are rear wheel drive and have to much power for a newer driver. They are unsafe in the rain and snow (actualy worthless in the snow) so I would suggest maybee a V6 vert cuz there pretty and with the x-tra money you could buy a p.o.s to drive in the winter.

Our oldest just turned 16 (got her license) she does NOT drive my GT due to the fact the first time she let a guy friend drive my car they would want to see what its got and I would either be picking the car outa a ditch or worse.

If you do get a V8 Mustang please be responsible with it!!!

OK, for my first car i waited 6 months after i got my license on my 16th b-day, i ended up with a 96 gt, the first month i had fun with it, showing it off, but not like burnouts and flatspins, just washing it everyday and driving it though town and reving the engine at slower cars, ive driven it through the winter, unfortunately for me winters are bad up here in WI, never got into an accident because i drove SLOW! but now that i have a year of experience with it i race it occaionaly. i grew up driving rear wheel drive cars thats why im so good, but seen as how you are in CA that shouldnt b a problem once winter rolls around. go for the cobra, have your parents buy it and put it under their names, the insurance will drop tremendously under their name, and have them put u on as a secondary driver on a different vehicle that your parents own. thats what i did, I pay $110 a month for insurance, im a 17 yr old kid driving a mustang gt, that is uneard of, but under the parents name it is so much cheaper. but one word of caution, drive slow, sports cars are easy to pick out of a crowd and cops love em, u get pulled over once driving that thing and your insurance will b through the roof
