Default engine flushing

Anybody ever used transmission fluid to flush the engine? My wife has a older accent with quite a bit of sludge buildup (at least what I can see under the oil filler cap).

Thanks again, it is a tough call trying to decide to flush or not...

I have been reading alot of mixed reactions with engine oil flushing using different products to do it with. The last thing I want to do is make a real problem by trying to prevent one.

On an older car with a lot of buildup...hmmm...sounds like a potential can of worms.

Tranny fluid contains a boat load of detergents which will really clean it up. I've heard this a thousand times, if you clean it too good, you'll end up leaking it.
My neighbor was a Ford Mechanic for 25+ years and would completely fill his engine with transmission with a new oil filter.
He'd drive on it for about a week, then change it back to regular oil (with a new filter again).
This has been done for as long as he's had the truck, and now has over 250,000 miles on it. Doesn't burn any oil and doesn't smoke.

Could be a good practice on a new vehicle, but I would just change the oil again after about a week to avoid new problems.
