Default 86 electric problems

i have an 86 GT and a few weeks ago i started having electrical problems. when i would give it gas the electric would dim. now its gotten worse to the point that the car stalls due to loss of power. Any guesses on what it might be?

Sounds like the alternator has gone bad and the car is trying to run off the battery alone. Suggest you pull both the alternator and battery and take it to a parts store that can test both of them and tell you which one is bad.

When was the last time you did a tune-up and replaced the spark plug wires, plugs, distributor cap and rotor, etc? Need more info about the symptoms of the problem before I can suggest anything else.

I would look into youre alternator and battery issues, If ya got EFI, Thats usually the first thing I would look at.

ive already replaced both. its even been to a mechanic and the guy couldnt find whats wrong with it. he found one wire on the harness that was a little cracked so he fixed that but it didnt help. the guy actually told me that he doesnt know and to bring it somewhere else.

Just because you replaced them doesnt mean your charging system is working. Check to be sure you have 14~ volts at the battery when the car is running, and 12~ volts when the car is off.
