Need help, hard getting into 3rd gear.
There is a 95 cobra SVT down the street that im currently looking at. The guy who owns it is about 45 and is a mechanic. While taking the car out for a test drive he told me that the car has problems downshifting into 3rd. He says that he called the makers of the clutch/shifter and they said it was a security feature. I find this very hard to believe. What do you think is really wrong with it? Its not grinding or anything bad, you just have to double clutch sometimes to get it to downshift from 4th gear to 3rd.
Hope you guys can help. I really want this mustang and hope thats nothing to big that can be fixed.
Thanks.

iF HE IS A mECHANIC HE MUST NOT BE A VREY GOOD ONE. wHEN THERE IS A dOWHSNIFTING pROBLEM IN A mANUAL tRANSMISSION IT IS USUALLY AN INDICATION OF A sYNCHRONIZER OR bLOCKER rING ISSUE. tHE tRANS IS A tr AND IS PROBABLY DUE FOR A REBUILD.

I am going to have my dad look it over and test drive it, and before I buy it im going to have my mechanic friend hook it up to the computer systems and run all the tests on it to make sure everything is ok. I can replace a clutch or shifter or whatever needs replaced, thats not a problem.

There is nothing wrong with the car. He showed me all the paperwork of things thats been done, including the new engine, cams, exhaust, headers, etc. Its all in the paperwork and has been done in the past 2 - 3 months. My friend which is my dads age works at GADDIS Chrysler and is the head mechanic. I am going to have him run computer test on it. If there is one small thing wrong with it the computer will be able to catch it. As for the clutch and downshifting, I will have my dad look at that, because it wasnt doing it to me when I was test driving it. My dad said something that it could be but I dont remember. He said whatever it was that it wasnt that expensive to get fixed.
