it weighs 2685, compared to any mustang...that's light. my car is a boat at 4200+
I doubt your car weighs that much. 03 Cobra Verts are like 3800-3900.
Verts are 3780 lbs. coupes are 3665... what is fords problem? damn tanks runnin around the road...

Gee, I dunno compared to an MR2 we have a backseat and a trunk, and a 4.6 liter engine compared to a 1.6. I guess a japanese manufacturer could make all that weigh nothing, but here in America we obey the laws of thermodynamics.

Yeah it is kinda sad how much our stangs weigh. My '65 Pontiac weighs less than my Mustang by a good few hundred pounds, although you wouldn't think so, and it has a nice torquey big block under the hood, so it's easy to catch guys by surprise. Traction on the street is a problem though...

You've been misinformed.

Curb Weight, lbs. (Vert) 3257lbs (Coupe) 3077lbs

That's the weight of the V-6's with all options in the SN95 Body Style. Weight of the GT Verts are like 3400-3500lbs. Shoot a SVT Lightning weighs around 4300-4400lbs. Your car is nowhere near that weight. The max your car weighs is probably 3600lbs.

95 isn't the heaviest year. Not really even close.

Sarcasm Noted. Hell, even the Viper weighs roughly the same and the motor in that car weighs 1500 lbs itself.

Hey,

Im Chris, Ariel's boyfriend...She showed me this for some kicks First off, its a 2.0l turbo, not 1.6. I dont know where the americians obeying the laws of therodynamics came from...but lol good simpsons quote. The 3gste motor in my car can handle upwards of 700-800hp with the stock internals (and One Big Turbo + More fuel than you could shake a stick at)....

Ariel and I have been having this debate, she is saving and trying to figure out a way to be faster than I am in a stright line. Right now the plan is for her to sell the 5.0, and buy a new Cobra vert. But we'll see what happens when I graduate in a year or so...I've got a bet with a few mech. engineering buddies on who will have the fastest, street legal, car one year aftergraduation Should be worth some kicks.

I know the 5.0 can be much faster than the MR2 turbo in a stright line, the fastest MR2 turbos are running 9's....And im sure all of you know a 5.0 can do better with tons of money (I wonder if it can be street legal like the 9 second MR2's are). I seriusly doubt a 1995 vert can ever be made that fast though. I think it would be a great race though. One of my best friends raced some 5.0 with his MR2, He makes around 300rwhp untuned right now. The stang (we know the guy) runs low 8's in the 1/8th....Well, from 40+ on the highway, the MR2 RAN away from it..I dont know, there are so many variables.

-Chris

PS: I really like your kills forum The MR2's OC does not allow a kills forum.

Alright, if you own one and really know how to take full advantage of the mid engine setup then you'd know the true beaty of it is not in a stright line but in corners. I had an 89 and they are soo much fun. That little thing handles amazingly, and like I said if you know how to drive a mid engine it will just suck down around corners, why do you think purpose build race cars and the real high end italian cars are mid engine?

I drove an MR2 when I was car shopping back in march. I dunno, I just felt like an *** in the car, especially with the top down. I didn't like having to drop to the ground almost to get into it. If anyone ever saw True Lies, remember the car salesman that was hitting on Jamie Lee Curtis? I felt like he looks while I was driving it. Cool car, just not for my tastes.

Screw the new ones, they lost the whole spirit of the first and second generation ones. The third gen/new ones may as well be a miata for all I care. If you're gonna get one you have to go with a 91-95 turbo or an 88-89 sc one.
