Default so, need help with my SVO

i have an 84 SVO. someone put in the big VAM. i bought the injectors and the LA3 computer. i put the LA3 in and the car started to idle like crap. there was a noticable increase in power, but i could only easily come onto it. couldnt stomp it otherwise it would start to sputter and almost stall out. could it be because of not having the injectors installed, or is the LA3 bad? i put the original computer back in and it runs just fine, unless i bring the boost above 12 PSI because of the big VAM, it leans out. but otherwise, runs fine. any ideas? thanks. oh, forgot, with the LA3 the boost gauge pretty much stops when it gets to like 11 psi. was also wondering if since the only year SVO that had the fuel switch was mine, and since the LA3 wasnt made with the fuel switch, would the fuel switch have an adverse e(a)ffect? on my car???

What is a VAM?
Your only having 11-12lbs of boot.
When I had my 84 SVO it was showing 16lbs.
Wife loved it till it reached 100k and disintegrated.

the VAM is the Vane Air Meter. the air meter under the air filter box. when i run the stock ZBA? computer, the boost goes up to the stock regulated 14 pounds, but when i put in the LA3 computer, the boost only goes up to about 11 pounds. not good. with the LA3 the boost should go up to 15 pounds, stock regulated on the later SVO's and Turbo Coupes.

I was under the impression that the stock PE and LA3 had some slight differences in wiring? The la3 isn't a bad computer but why dont you just run the pe with the bigger injectors and vam and not have to worry about it?

If you set on the la3 thinking you will get better performance then look around on some wiring diagrams and repin as needed.

First, all SVO's came with the fuel switch, so that doesn't matter. I've gat an 85 SVO and recently swapped in the LA3, and it is pretty easy to do. Try http://forced4.com/LA3swap.html it gives step by step instructions for re-pinning the computer. Hope this is a help to you.

The computer does work quite well, last night I went 14.34@94.6mph and was running 21psi.
