Default Oil layer

My girlfriend's car has a thin layer of oil (just greasy, not running or anything) ALL over the engine bay (kia rio)...this mean the seals are leaking? My car has it but limited only to the valve covers.

i dont know anything about your grilfriends car but my guess is that the connections to the radiator for the transmission fluid, is leaking and the fan is picking up some of that oil and making it go every where. thats what happend to my 68' stang, just replaced the hoses and made sure the clamps were in the right place and tight and it was good to go. hope this helps.

now that i think of it, the big radiator hose to the engine block is kinda crusty-looking.
