Ram Air applications?

Ram Air applications?
if you were to order an aftermarket hood with the nostrils in the front.. how hard would it be to run ram air. i mean if you have a large enough volume of air- at high speeds you could get the equivalence of a few pounds of boost. what do you guys think

RE: Ram Air applications?
ive always been told that the air is not dense enought to make any boost with ram air. the only way that ram air helps is that the air is sort of being pushed in which means the engine doesnt have to draw it in. it basically works the same way as getting high flow mufflers....just in reverse. if the engine doesnt have to waste hp drawing in air, it can use that power to move the car. you may get 5hp if your lucky.
of course, this is just what ive always been told.

Ram air will give you about the same performance boost as a CAI. The differance is mostly just in the looks of it. The banshee ram air is cool looking and is suppose to be one of the best ones. They even have a hood made to go with it so you don't have to cut yours up. Just do a google search if your interested. Its about $2k for the ram air though...I would just get a nice $300 CAI and use the rest of the money on other mods or save a little more for a S/C or turbo.

The thing with Ram Air is that its just the same as Cold Air Intake until you hit about 80mph and then it gives you a little more kick because the air at that speed is actually Ramming into the intake instead of the engine sucking it in. They really arent worth the money seeing as how its only good at top speeds and honestly how often does you car see anything over 90 mph?
