Default bad experience w/ bosch platnu

alright guys, can someone please shed a little light on this subject for me. ive got about 34.5k miles on my car and i thought i might replace my spark plugs with a set of some high performance plugs, some bosch platnum +4 plugs to be exact, you know the ones with the 4 prongs rather than just the one. anyway, so i installed them yesterday and riding down the road after the installation i started feeling a lot of hesitation and "burps" i guess you can call it, from the engine.... it sorta felt like when you let off the gas going down a hill and keeping it in gear without putting in the clutch (letting the engine slow you down). it felt like that but i was constantly giving it gas. so without saying, i was pretty upset, so i took them out, returned them, and put the old plugs back in... perfect, back to normal.

So i am trying to find out why those high performance plugs would make the engine run so crappy, oh and i forgot to mention, i could definitly feel a drop in power as well. the plugs said they were already correctly gapped from the factory. so, there are two things that i think may be going on here, one they werent correctly gapped, or two, my superchip must have to be specifically programmed for them?? well, in any case i would have had to change them out again for the regular ones anyway, because im planning on getting a s/c for it.

so if anyone knows anything about this, if you could share your experience i would appreciate it, thanks guys.

I'd stick with copper plugs. Sure, you've gotta replace them more often, but doing so makes you pull them out and see how the engine is doing.

I've got those stupid platinum +4 things in my car but that's going to change soon enough. Perhaps you got the wrong heat range plugs?

yeah you know what, i think what the problem was, was that the spark was confused and didnt know which prong to go too, lol i mean it had 4 to choose from hahaha. anyway, yeah i think im just going to stick with my stock plugs unless it gets real bad, i mean i cant hardly tell that its hesitating i mean its there but its nothing to worry about, i just thought those things would make my car feel like a supercar, lol. thanks for the input guys

Once I tried the plug upgrade on my ride...Ishelled out the $12/each for some Iridium ngkplugs...didnt do squat...so I ended up selling them to a friend who, at the time had a better list of engine mods...they did do more for him. I stick w/ honda oem spec plugs, myself.

And just a little off the topic, the bosch plugs run like *** in hondas...

And Champion plugs run equally well in Subarus for some reason.

NGK v-power is the way to go in the Subaru.

A stupid answer to a serious question....

Did you check to make sure that the boots were completely connected to the plugs? I had that problem in my '88 Sprint (before I rearended a Mazda pickup and killed it.) It ran fine untill I hit an incline greater than 2 degrees at which point I slowed to 45mph and couldn't get the dang thing to quit hiccupping. Also, check your temperature gauge with new plugs... if you're running too hot of plugs, you'll melt things that are really REALLY important to keeping the wheels rolling.... oy.

well guys, thanks for all the great help it was very interesting to hear all of what you guys had to say. but yeah i already switched out to the original ones and i think they will stay in until i absolutely need to change them and the next time i will get either OEM ones or the 'V' groove ones. but either way i think my car needs a tuneup, plus ill be taking it in for a once over before my warranty runs out, but before that ill be putting my stock h-pipe back on and taking out my superchip!

thanks again fellas!
