8.8s are fine man. when it comes to the point when you have gobs of hp and slicks, and dont want to break the 8.8, you can then upgrade the differential unit, get hardened more spline axels, and other things. plenty of 700rwhp guys running around with 8.8's. a 9" would be a waste of money.
