Default Water injection for performance

Hey !!! I found this about water injection while looking for ways to clean my combustion chambers.

http://www.aquamist.co.uk/index.html

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=362439&pp=20

My experince with it is that it stops knocking in a hurry.

Funny story - I had a 76 pinto that was beat to crap. It burned oil and had cabon all over. U vould see it thru the EGR port etc.

The car used to ping/knock like crazy when going up hills. I had read how the britts used water in the motors of the Spitfire fighter planes to increase the octane and fly higher/faster.

The guts of one of my sisters dolls gave up some little bellows and plastic fittings.

I ended up running a micro switch to the stick shift and another tripped by a small bellow.
basically if I punched the button and the engine vacum was low the washer pump would go on and squirt a small amount of water thru an old carb jet clipped to the carb lip.

It worked great !!!! The knock would stop instantly and the car would pick up faster. After a couple of tests I was able to crank up the timing. I also defeated the bellows thing and relied on just my ear.

At the first sign of pinging I would press the button and get that watter in the motor.

My friends used to laugh at my set-up and called it the Turbo boost button.

The only problem I had with the system were the plastic hoses ( aquarium hoses ) did not like sitting too close to the motor but I eventually fixed that. There was also a slight lag because the water used to drain back into the tank. That issue was solved with a small vacum check valve.

Crazy but it was fun crap to play with

I understand. A lot of people feel the same.

True - you can kill the motor with too much water but it takes a lot.

many people including myself run methanol injection....50% distilled water and 50% methanol (can run winshield wiper fluid but it not quite 50/50 but it works and is cheap). straight water only has the effect of lower intake temps...the higher octane count is from the methanol check out snowperformance.com or coolingmist.com

the power gains for a naturally aspirated engine are minimal at best...the power is made on boosted engines since you can run more timing and more boost without detonation

A little bit of water can actually help clean away some carbon build ups.
