Stroker Engine
Im not very well educated when it comes to engines and I wanted to know how a 347 stroker engine works and how much horsepower it produces. where can I get a kit to convert my 95 302 to a 347 and will it be a big improvement. Thanks for all your responses.

RE: Stroker Engine
The generally accepted rule of thumb on a NA engine is 1 hp for every cube added, although like nomo said it could come out to be more or less than that depending on alot of things. If your heads can't flow well enough to fill the extra cubes your not gonna benefit as much from stroking, on the other hand with a great setup or a power adder you will get more than 1hp per cube.

for it to be "converted", youll need to take your block to a machine shop, have it bored out, put the new internals in, put the top half of your engine back on THAT block, reinstall it in your car, etc, etc. if you get a stroker though......like MD said, if you dont have good heads, you wont make the hp youre lookin for. for who to go to, check out www.dssracing.com and check out www.coasthigh.com. DSS is supposed to be good, but, ive heard more good things about CHP than i have DSS. your choice. but, youll have to pay for the labor and the stroker kit itself, so, be ready to dish out a nice chunk of change when you do it !

RE: Stroker Engine
unless he can rebuild the engine himself but it doesnt sound like because he said hes not that educated on stroker kits. Getting the block done for stroker kit can cost over 1000 dollars. some of those DSS shortblocks are good though new block, etc.

What would be a better investment , a stroker kit or a supercharger ?
