Default Leaner or Richer and why?

Ok what's the differences and which is better? I was told that when you lean your car in that it cuts off fuel to the motor, it'll run hotter and it'll give better performance and power. Is this true?

Well if your car is running too rich then you have to lean it in.....if it's too lean then you have to richen it up. You don't want too lean or too rich I know that much.

too lean and you burn your valves.
too rich and you carbonize them.
just right and your motor will be happy.

A little to the rich side is the safer of the two errors.

One is just as bad as the other, if taken to an extreme. Like Colorado said though, it is safer to be a tad rich than lean. Going lean can lead to detonation.
