Default IAT TEMP BYPASS CHIP????

Has anyone bought one of these chips from Ebay yet? They are really just resistors that bypass's the Intake Air Temp sensor and fools the computer to think its 32 degress outside! Do they work and has anyone had any problems with using it.

They will definitely make the computer dump more fuel, but they'll cause more problems than they are worth. You'd be better off saving up for a programmer.

They sound like old tech to me. More of a trick used when the EFI mustang was just a baby. There's so many computer parts out there that do a more thorough job than that. Plus your car would likly run too rich in the summer with something like that.

I worked for a Datsun dealer in another life. The foreman used to have us install a resistor in line with the coolant temp sensor on cars that ran a bit lean. It would be hidden under tape.

The dealer owner had a 280Z witha **** mounted on a little barcket on the lower dash - avariable resistor to dial in how much fuel he wanted out of what the Bosh fuel injection would supply as part of the cold enrichment.

It actually worked.

hey - since you're talking about IAT sensors... i have a 91 stang and it's had a check engine light for months... keeps reading IAT sensor... 1) the haynes manual doesn't say crap about where this sensor is... does it sit on the intake manifold? I've replaced several sensors after talking with my mechanic, but no go... any ideas?

My Hayne's manual shows the IAT on the thick rubber hose that connects to the Throtle body. Page 6-15

If you mean the ECT, it should be where coolant circulates. I think on my 5.00 it was mounted on a black tube that carried A/F to the firewall ...

What codes does it throw ?

Good luck

thanks - i'll have to check my manual when i get home tomorrow night.. no, can't remember the code, but it said idle air temp control sensor... is it the black sensor that sits on top of the throttle body that is held on by 2 screws, doesn't actually go into the tb at all?

Your intake air temp sensor(IAT) should be in your left front intake runner on the lower part. I think thats true for all the 5.0s.
