Radiator leak

Radiator leak
I have a 1990 Ford Mustang GT, and i just got the radiator flushed and the oil changed. It was running fine before that then like 2 or so hours after the flush (which was done by a mechanic shop) the engine over heated and liquid spewed out. Whats wrong? They said the radiator was fine when we left there?

RE: Radiator leak
Sounds like maybe the system went into lock. Coolant won't flow and it will cause the car to over heat. usually caused by air still in the coolant system. Not a very common thing but does happen from time to time.

RE: Radiator leak
How long since this happened. If not to long ago let the engine cool down all the way. Then add coolant(50-50)to the full level.Take the car around the block a few times to get it to full operating temp.Let it cool.Ckeck the coolant level.Keep doing this untill the coolant reservoir stays at the "full cold"level when cold. The engine will eventually allow a completely full system by the expansoin and contraction of the coolant.Keep an eye out for leaks. Overheating caused by leaks usually doesn't have enough fluid left to "shoot" out.Low coolant overheating is normally an intermittent condition that lasts a little bit longer each time. The sensor shows an overheat condition untill coolant gets back to the sensor and cools it down.

Okay, I ran it around the block a few times after adding cool/water mix and it sucked it right out. White fumes are coming from near the radiator hose, and it's leaking. The mechanic shop we brought it to said "oh it must be the heater core" I want my stang working again god damnit IM PISSED!

OH ****.You got a leak.It sounds like the radiator is busted. This is probably going to be a remove and replace job.Now to figure out who is responsible?I think the shop that did the work should stand up and take responsibility for the problem. But,the radiator is 14 yrs old they don't last forever. However, they also know this and should have been very careful when removing hoses around these old ,delicate joints.I think a 50-50 replacement would be fair.
