Strange Request
I think this is going to be something more common a few years from now, but I gotta ask this. Since my Shaker has an auxilary port- is there any sort of contraption I could connect to it that will allow me to use a USB stick to play music through the Shaker? Depending on the music format, I can see how this can be possible, but not popular right now. USB sticks can hold up to 4 gigs of music and that has me wondering.....
i think it is a 1/8 jack in the consol? before i had my pioneer avic z1 put in with the ipod adapter, i would plug my ipod into the jack and it would play, but i had to control everything through the ipod as opposed to the shaker system itself. if you could find a 1/8 jack to usb i dont see why it wouldnt work
theres no way to play music directly off a usb drive without a new deck. Some new JVC decks actually have a USB port on the front that would play music from any old usb drive, but that is the only way it would work. 1/8 inch to usb does not exist. You can get an mp3 player for about 50 bucks and connect it to the deck through an 1/8 inch to 1/8 inch cord (if your shaker system has an 1/8 inch plug on it).
There's supposed to be an auxilary plug in behind the radio, but I know it's not a standard connection. It's some sort of 6 pin connector available through Ford and a few aftermarket places, I think. Also, I've noticed a small 1 1/2" X 2 1/2" cover panel inside the center console. What option is this for? I think it would be an ideal spot to install a custom 1/8" jack to connect an ipod or othr mp3 player to.
I have a thing that plugs into the cig lighter and plays music off of a usb drive, the sound comes through the radio so the sound quality isn't quite as good but it works. I got it from Wal-mart for $20.
