Intake Manifold decision
I have a 302 stock engine in my 67 Mustang that I plan to turn into a strip car mostly.
Thinking about going with the edelbrock f4b or an edelbrock Air Gap Performer. The f4b I believe is no longer production.
haven't decided which but, anyone with experience coudl tell me:
which one would give me the most power and best quarter mile and eighth mile runs.
open to suggestions.

why don't you check out the websites for both Edelbrock and Weiand and Holley and see what they say about the operating range and mods needed to take full advantage of the various intakes before you buy anything. another place for advice is the Ford Tech hot line at 586-468-1356. just remember that the intake is but one piece of the combination and you need to match it up with other things like the heads, cam, exhaust, tranny etc. to get the biggest bang for your buck.
also remember there is a big difference between a strip/street car and a strip only car, so be careful what you do or it won't be worth a damn on the street.

I'm running stock 302 with flowmasters
however, here's what i hope to eventually have
Hooker headers
Air Gap Performer or F4B intake
Edelebrock AVS 650 cfm
everything else gonna stay stock for now till I get more info but
i'm looking at vic jr heads and maybe getting a 347 stroker kit and a performance cam.

Have you looked into the victor jr. intake it may be a bit much now for the 302 but if you are gone to run the victor jr heads and a 347 then the intake would be just right for that.or just a high rev. 302 with good heads and cam.buy it now and grow into it so you dont have to buy a intake 2 times.IMO..
I'd say it will depend on the cam, trans, and rear gears. If you have a stock cam and an auto trans with a stock converter, then the rpm air gap would be best, even on the victor jr heads the air gap will perform well. The victor jr. will kill alot of your low rpm power, plus you may run into hood clearence issues. It really depends on how long you plan to run this motor before going to the 347, if you are going to do the stroker soon ( as in over the winter) then why even bother with a manifold change, if it will be a year or two get the air gap for now and sell it if you don't like how it works on the 347.
If you don't have the money to do every thing to you motor at once, don't start until you do. Don't half *** you motor. If you put a intake on now and then a cam later. that not good for you. To much work and it cost more. If you want, you can buy the intake and later buy a cam and put them in at the same time.
