Default o/d while racing, off or on?

I hate to sound like a noob but I've just never really had a car with the option of turning off the o/d. Just wondering what difference it makes and whether or not I should turn it off during a race.

I typically turn it off whenever I'm driving in the city or racing. But to be honest it doesn't make a difference. Because as long as you are at WOT then the automatic tranny will not shift into OD anyway. It won't shift past 3rd gear until you get off the throttle a little to get it out of WOT mode.
