I bought my car used and it only came with one key. Everything I found online says you need 2 originals to program a third. How do I program a second with only one original? Can only a dealership do this? It appears I can program a new fob though correct.

 

I believe it can only be done at the dealer. Your gonna have to get the key from them anyway. It`s gonna be a little costly so be prepared for the shock. Did you but the car from a ford dealer? If so, demand a second key and remote. They should give it to you without any problems. Every car should come with 2. I just bought my 05 ranger used and it only had one key and remote and they gave me another set without a problem. Good luck.

you can do it on your own but you will need someone to chip the key first... and set it to your car.

 

Ok i know when i bought the car at dodge dealrship this lady showed me how. You put the car in park put the key into ignition and go start and back for 4 or 5 times once the door locks pop its programmed. Pretty easy but i kinda forgot!

 

You need a ford scan tool or an equivalent todo it. I am a locksmith and do fords all day long.
