Default dumping the clutch fan

Just picked up an electric fan at the junkyard yesterday and am looking for any wiring/fuse/electrical advice. I would like it to cut on when I start the car, but to also have the option to let it run after the car is shut down, for the summertime.

I also wonder how much power I will be freeing up by removing the clutch fan when it is going to put more strain on the alternator?
thanks

why do you want the fan to run after
you walk away from the car?
Are you worried about the car cooling down
to slow?

I would just hook it to switched 12 volts.

You need a delayed relay. Check a place like DigiKey or Radio Shack and let them know what you want to do. You will be hooked to a 12V switched source as well as a constant 12V source.

I lost idle speed with my electric fans...OEM ones may be more efficient, however. Also, that isn't in comparison to a factory mechanical fan.
