dumping the clutch fan
Just picked up an electric fan at the junkyard yesterday and am looking for any wiring/fuse/electrical advice. I would like it to cut on when I start the car, but to also have the option to let it run after the car is shut down, for the summertime.
I also wonder how much power I will be freeing up by removing the clutch fan when it is going to put more strain on the alternator?
thanks

You need a delayed relay. Check a place like DigiKey or Radio Shack and let them know what you want to do. You will be hooked to a 12V switched source as well as a constant 12V source.
I lost idle speed with my electric fans...OEM ones may be more efficient, however. Also, that isn't in comparison to a factory mechanical fan.
