Default Heater Core replacement

OK........I replaced the heater core. It only took me 1 Sunday to take the dash out, 2 hours on Wednesday to take the heater box out and repalce the core, and another Sunday to put the dash back in.

We started up, let it run to heat up, and all seemed OK. Now we find the heater hoses leaking. I had bought new ones at NAPA but returned them because they didn't look close to what the old ones looked like (bends and such). Not only that but the inside dimenssions where different. I have since bought two more at AutoZone. They seems to be just like the ones from NAPA. Could it be that the inside dimenssions are different? Although they do have prefab bends in them, do I still need to do some bending of my own (with the hoses) to make them fit? Do these aftermarket parts outfits sell parts the you need to "cut to fit", where these seem to be too long?

Any help woul be great!
