Default balancer?

yesterday i noticed that i had a vibration coming for the motor. today i started the car while the hood as up and i thought the hood was going to shake shut. i noticed that my balancer was a little loose. i could move it pretty easy about a 1/16 to 1/8 inch. would this be way the motor is shaking so bad? if so is there any way to tighten the balancer or do i have to pay a new one?

Are you talking the Harmonic balancer? If so you need to get that fixed before driving it again. If it is wobbling that bad it is sending all that vibration straight through the crank witch could be very bad

My 95gt had the same problem. It would vibrate on start up and when taking off from a stop. It was the balancer, very easy to change at least.

Hurry up and change that. Those nasty vibrations won't take long at all to shake your engine to death, if it already hasn't started the process..
