Default Transmission vibration

Cant get any response on the v6 forum so maby some one here can help. I have noticed a shudder in the transmission around 44mph. One shop told me that a service would eliminate this however another shop said that because the 1996 has 114 miles on it that doing a transmission service will cause slippage. I just bought this car and need to know if driving it the way it is will cause additional problems or if I should go ahead with the 1st shops recommendation. Any advise would be appreciated.

If the trans is slppin, thats usually an indication that the clutches are worn or youre low on fluid. Servicing the trans (changing the fluid/filter) would be very detrimental at this point. The worn off clutch material is actually circulating with the fluid, and actually helping it shift. If you change it the particles are gone and it might not shift at all. I say just leave it alone, add fluid if neccessary (car running in park or neutral whatever it says on the dipstick or manual). But keep in mind that you will have either rebuild or replace your trans at some point.

May not be the trans. Could be your u-joints.

A shudder is definitly the trans, it is slippage. Well more accuratly slip/grab/slip/grab/slip/grab but very fast. Clutches are worn.
