Stock 82 gt performance upgrades?
fellow mustang fans,
I have reciently purchased an 82 completely original GT with 60,000 km's. I previously owned an 82 capri with a 92 s/d efi but sold it because it was a messy motor swap (not running) by the previous owner. So i've moved onto a beauty, i love this car except it's all original and doesn't have the punch it's capable of. So, my question is what can i do to the motor and exhaust on a low budget to increase hp and torque? I know 1st i should do the carb, manifold and exhaust. I want to keep the car looking stock as far as the dual on the driver side and don't whant to get into double hump cross swaps. I am getting rid of all the restrictions on the exaust.
So any info and advice on how to make my little pony kick like a bit of a stallion would be very much appreciated.

Doesn't sound like he's doing anything that's really permanent.
Go for a Stealth manifold, headers, and new pipes. I'd personally go for a Holley DP to help with throttle response. Just save all the old stuff.
Dual on the driver's side is how the exhaust was routed in this era. The double hump he's talking about is the tranny cross member. The older cars had a single hump for exhaust clearance. After the HO was introduced, Ford went to a double hump cross member that allowed for a true dual system.
