Default Squeaking Brakes

Need some advice...my husband did a break job on my 2000 Mustang (V6) about 4 months ago. The darn things squeak more than ever now and get some serious black brake residue on the rims. Any ideas on what is causing this? Did he screw something up??

Was their any brake pad shims installed on the front Pads? some times they cause squeals, Their is some brake squeal spray you can buy at the auto parts store called Stop squeal.

sometimes a nice hit with a hammer to snug them up on the caliper is need also....some of the squeaking came be from the brake dust....I think he put on so carbon brakes which led to alot of dust....

Default RE: Squeaking Brakes

Most brake sqeel comes from either caliper to pad vibration (shims or ant-sqeel compound will clear this up) or from the brake pad anti-rattle clip hardware. Your "supposed" to change those clips each brake job but no one ever does - at least put some grease there to keep the sqeel down if you re-use them. Also if you don't turn the rotors during a brake job often times the pads won't seat well with the rotors and the mis-aligned grooves between the surfaces will cause the brake dust to crystalize in those groves causing sqeels too.
